In the aftermath of the BAND OF GYPSYS, Jimi Hendrix looked to refocus his career and meet the challenges of a new decade. The powerful impact that Jimi's appearances at both Monterey Pop and Woodstock had created had not been lost and Berkeley had developed as a flash point in the heated battle over the Vietnam War and other emerging social and political issues. Hendrix had filled the spacious, nearby Oakland Coliseum the previous year and could have easily done so again, but elected for the more intimate theater setting as the venue. All of the available tickets for both shows were quickly snapped up and on the evening of the concerts, more than a thousand empty-handed fans were turned away. Tensions between patrons, venue security, local police, and those without tickets escalated. Ensconced safely backstage, Jimi was unaware of the turbulence that surrounded the building. The sold out house roared it's approval as Jimi and the Experience took the stage. Jimi prefaced the concert with a request he often made of his audience, asking them to "forget about yesterday or tomorrow, this is our own little world tonight." The evening's second set is presented here in it's entirety and original sequence.

"Live At Berkeley" is a powerful LP that captures Jimi Hendrix and the Experience at one of their most celebrated concert moments, recorded live in Berkeley, California in 1970. This edition on vinyl offers an intense, unfiltered snapshot of Hendrix at the height of his creativity, with extended guitar improvisations, dynamite rhythm work and a setlist that blends iconic hits with more exploratory pieces. The analog warmth of the LP format underlines the raw energy and dynamic range of the performance, from delicate passages to explosive climaxes, making this release an essential addition for collectors and audiophiles who want to experience Hendrix in his most immediate and spontaneous form.

Musically, "Live At Berkeley" places the listener directly in front of the stage: blues-rooted riffs, psychedelic soundscapes and hard-driving rock grooves merge into a performance that feels urgent and timeless. The interplay between guitar, bass and drums is tight yet adventurous, with Hendrix stretching songs into free-flowing journeys, full of feedback, bends and melodic invention. The concert atmosphere - audience reactions, on-stage communication and the natural acoustics of the hall - is preserved in detail, conveying the intensity and charisma that made Hendrix concerts legendary.

Jimi Hendrix Experience were one of the most influential rock bands of the late 1960s, with Hendrix widely regarded as a revolutionary electric guitarist. With landmark albums and era-defining songs, he reshaped the vocabulary of rock, blues and psychedelia through innovative use of distortion, feedback and studio techniques, as well as unforgettable live performances. His impact on generations of musicians remains enormous, and live documents like "Live At Berkeley" are key testimonies of his artistic peak and enduring legacy.
