Each of the main epics on this album are meticulously composed with masterful lyrics. This Lateralus is probably their pinnacle even within a discography of the highest artistic level. The acid and powerful blues journey started with Opiate, continued in part with Undertow and then abandoned with Aenima in favor of a progressive metal updated to the 2000s, reaches an uneven peak here with 10000 Days and Fear Inoculum.
