| | Description: | Der Saxophonist Wayne Shorter kann sein langjähriges Schaffen in verschiedene Phasen einteilen.
In den Anfangsjahren spielte er die Rolle des Sideman, dann performte er Solo und entwickelte seinen eigenen Stil und besaß erhebliche kompositorische Fähigkeiten, bevor er in den 70ger Jahren auch von der großen Allgemeinheit anerkannt wurde.
1959 bekam er erstmals die Möglichkeit, selbst aufzunehmen. "Introducing Wayne Shorter", bestehend aus vier eigene Kompositionen neben einem Roland Kirk Original und dem Klassiker "Mack The Knife" von Brecht und Weill. Das Album ist ein entstand unter Mitwirkung der Rhythmussektion von Miles Davis, welche dem beeindruckenden Debüt noch mehr Gewicht verleit. - - Recorded At Bell Sound Studios, New York City, November 10, 1959
