Aufmerksam geworden bin ich auf Nightwish durch ihr hervorragendes Cover von Gary Moore´s "Over The Hills And Far Away".
Außergewöhnlicher Rockgesang der ausgebildeten Sopranistin Tarja Turunen. Die gesamte Combo versteht ihr Werk, dass hört man. Und das ist Understatement.
Das Album ist eine Zusammenstellung der Lieblingsstücke der Band aus der Zeit. Schwer zu beschreiben. Symphonischer Heavy Metal wird es genannt. Die Keybords mögen mit bombastischem Klang dominant sein, ich halte es für akzentuiert gespielten Rock.
Mit auch melodischen Liedern wie "Sleeping Sun", das härtere "Wish I had An Angel" oder die symphonisch anmutenden Stücke wie "Dead Boy´s Poem".
Wenn man auf aufheiternde Rockmusik steht, ist jedes Lied saugut.

Muy buen álbum recopilatorio de una gran banda finlandesa de metal sinfónico... Abarca únicamente la época con Tarja como vocalista.
