| Description: | From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy. Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.Weta Workshop's authentic prop replicas are designed by the very same artists and technicians who work on our movies, using the same techniques and materials. We treat our prop replicas with the same level of care, quality and attention to detail that we bring to our film work. Elegantly carved with a leaf motif, the long stemmed pipe of Bilbo Baggins exemplifies the comfort and decorum of hobbit society.A gentleman's pipe, befitting a hobbit of standing and decorum such as the master of Bag End, and not some Tookish rapscallion who might run off on adventures, it is perfect for blowing smoke rings and waving good morning at unannounced strangers in pointy hats. The Pipe of Bilbo Baggins was created for The Hobbit by the artists at the 3Foot7 Art Department. This non-functional prop replica has been created from molds of the original prop used in the film, using the same high impact urethane material as the props on set and finished using the same techniques and materials to achieve the same well-loved look as it has in the film. This is a non-functional prop replica and comes with a polystone display stand. "Although we use steel and aluminium to make a lot of our swords, often we benefit from the casting of these in a high impact urethane, as we are able to capture the complexity of detail we are wishing to cast into some of our weapons. We have therefore chosen to present our collector's edition of Hobbit weapons in the same material used for the making of the film props, to exactly replicate the techniques and artistry used in the films."- Richard Taylor - CEO & Co-founder, Weta Workshop *Please note: images are of a pre-production prototype. Each prop is painted by hand and slight variations will occur. The 'brass fittings,' as per the description, are a painted effect. The whole pipe is made of urethane. Immerse yourself in the world of Middle-earth with the "Hobbit - The Pipe of Bilbo Baggins" by Weta Workshop, a finely crafted collectible inspired by the beloved character from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Designed as an authentic-looking prop replica, this pipe is aimed at fans, collectors, and enthusiasts of cinematic memorabilia who value detailed craftsmanship and atmospheric home decor.
This product is typically made from quality materials selected to resemble the look and feel of Bilbo's pipe as seen on screen, with a long, elegant stem and a carefully shaped bowl that echoes the rustic charm of the Shire. The finish and detailing are oriented toward display value: smooth surfaces, balanced proportions and a design that fits naturally into Lord of the Rings and Hobbit-themed collections. While some collectors may choose to use similar pipes functionally, Weta Workshop markets these items primarily as display pieces, decorative objects, and cosplay accessories; therefore, technical data such as exact dimensions, weight or specific wood type are not reliably documented and are not asserted here.
Applications of this piece are broad in the context of fandom: it can be showcased in a display cabinet, placed on a shelf as a centerpiece, used as a costume accessory for cosplay and fan conventions, or integrated into themed photo shoots and home cinema rooms. Its long, slender design and iconic silhouette make it immediately recognizable to fans and help create a strong visual connection to the films.
The advantages of "The Pipe of Bilbo Baggins" lie in its authenticity-oriented design and the reputation of Weta Workshop. As the studio responsible for many of the original props, miniatures and visual effects for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, Weta Workshop brings deep knowledge of the source material and screen-used designs to its collectibles. This background ensures that the piece is created with a particular emphasis on film accuracy, subtle details and overall quality.
Weta Workshop, based in New Zealand, has built a strong international reputation for its work in film, television and collectibles, combining artistic craftsmanship with industrial processes. The company has in recent years communicated various efforts around responsible production and community engagement, such as supporting local creative industries, promoting craftsmanship, and working on projects that value durability and long-term enjoyment over disposable products. While specific sustainability metrics or material certifications for this exact pipe are not publicly documented, the general approach of Weta Workshop to create high-quality, long-lasting collectibles already supports a more sustainable mindset: one well-made object that is cherished for many years instead of many quickly discarded, low-quality decorations.
