Wenn es um seine lange und fruchtbare Karriere in der Musik geht, lässt sich Jim Ward nicht von Eitelkeit oder Geld oder einer gro�artigen Story leiten, in der er der zentrale Akteur ist. Es geht um den Song, die Melodie, den Text. Dieser Philosophie ist Ward gefolgt, als er in seiner langen und kurvenreichen Karriere in verschiedenen Bands auftrat. 1994 und im Alter von 17 Jahren war Ward Mitbegründer der legendären Post-Hardcore-Band At The Drive-In. Sie veröffentlichten drei von der Kritik gefeierte Studioalben und mehrere EPs, bevor sie sich 2001 auflösten. Ward gründete Sparta, dessen jüngste Veröffentlichung Trust The River aus dem Jahr 2020 ist. Zwischendrin gründete Jim Ward sein Alt-Country-Projekt Sleepercar und veröffentlicht nun auch noch ein Soloalbum mit dem Titel "Daggers". Als Gastmusiker spielt Ben Kinney von Incubus Bass und Tucker Rule von Thursday Schlagzeug. - The album was written and recorded during the pandemic, and though COVID-19 restrictions didn't allow Jim to record the album in person with other musicians, it does feature a very notable rhythm section: bassist Ben Kenney of Incubus (and briefly of The Roots) and drummer Tucker Rule of Thursday. "My friends did this for the pure love of making music with a friend," he said of Ben and Tucker. "There's no higher compliment.
