Extra-Infos: Works By Arvo Part
Description:Part: Tabula Rasa is an album by Renaud Capucon, released in 2021. Part: Tabula Rasa includes a.o. the following tracks: â??Tabula Rasa I. Ludusâ?, â??Tabula Rasa Ii. Silentiumâ?, â??Fratresâ?, â??Summaâ? and more. The album is a Digipak classical CD. â??Arvo Pärtâ??s music takes us from darkness to light,â? says Renaud Capuçon. â??It looks relatively simple on paper, but each note needs to have its own life as it undergoes change. This music is not just relaxing â?? it has a depth and drama.â? Capuçon is now Artistic Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. â??Iâ??m entering a new chapter in my life,â? he says, â??The orchestraâ??s quality of sound is the kind of thing you dream about.â? His first recording with the Lausanne players is also his first full-scale recording as a conductor, though he also plays violin on four of the tracks. The album, Tabula Rasa, is devoted to works by Pärt, who turned 86 this month. The Estonian composer crafts his intricate music using a method he calls tintinnabuli â?? evoking the mysterious resonance of bells. Often drawing inspiration from his Eastern Orthodox faith, it evolves gently, drawing in the listener for a meditative, even spiritual experience. Tabula Rasa takes its name from the largest of the eight works on the programme, a concerto for two violins, string orchestra and prepared piano. The New York Times has written that â??Tabula Rasa's music simply flows over us â?¦ like small lapping waves that wash away accumulated detritus from our consciousness.â? - WORKS BY ARVO PART

"Tabula Rasa" is an audio CD that brings together violinist Renaud Capuçon and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OCL) in a compelling exploration of contemporary and modern-leaning classical repertoire. With its clear, finely sculpted sound and strong artistic vision, the album presents works that stand at the crossroads of meditative calm and emotional intensity, inviting listeners into a sound world that is both introspective and dramatically charged. The recording emphasizes transparency of texture, rhythmic precision, and a strong narrative arc across the program, making it particularly attractive to listeners who appreciate depth and atmosphere in orchestral and ensemble music.

At the center of the CD is Renaud Capuçon, one of the most prominent violinists of his generation, known for his warm tone, impeccable technique, and a discography that ranges from the core classical canon to 20th- and 21st-century works. Over the past decades, he has performed with leading orchestras around the world and appeared at major festivals, winning acclaim for his interpretations of both Romantic violin concertos and more recent repertoire. His recordings have garnered numerous distinctions from the international press, and his collaborations with top conductors and chamber partners have placed him among the most respected artists on the current classical scene.

The OCL provides a refined, responsive orchestral partner, supporting Capuçon with detailed phrasing and a rich palette of colors. The ensemble's disciplined ensemble playing and sensitivity to dynamics help to shape the album's sense of architecture and flow. The result is a listening experience where soloist and orchestra are tightly integrated, bringing out both the structural clarity and the poetic dimension of the music featured on "Tabula Rasa."

Erato, the label behind this release, is a longstanding name in the world of classical music recordings. Known for a carefully curated catalog and a strong commitment to artistic quality, Erato has built its reputation on collaborations with leading soloists, ensembles, and conductors. The label places a clear emphasis on high production standards and distinctive, often artist-driven projects, which has made many of its releases reference recordings for collectors and connoisseurs. With "Tabula Rasa," Erato once again underlines its role as a label that supports ambitious, thoughtfully conceived classical recordings, offering listeners an album that combines interpretative depth with excellent recorded sound.
