Un Violon à Paris provides a musical memento of the eight weeks that France spent in lockdown in Spring 2020. Over that period of the pandemic Renaud Capuçon and pianist Guillaume Bellom performed online each day, raising the spirits of their fans on social media. A collection of much-loved short pieces, the album includes music by Enrico Morricone, Charlie Chaplin, Carlos Gardel, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Schumann.
As Renaud Capuçon explains: â??Every day, for 56 days, at the same time we followed our ritual, connected by our love of music and our determination to keep going. So many people listened to us every morning and so many people wrote to us to express their gratitude.â?
The album was recorded in Spring 2021. â??Now, finally, we are seeing the sun â?¦ In the very difficult times we've all had during Covid, being able to play music, and to play these little pieces full of nostalgia and vision, has been a treat for us. We'd like to offer this album to you as something to make you feel better. I hope you will feel comforted and reassured by these pieces.â?
