April 2016 ihre Debütkassette Rites And Ritual.
- .. THE ABATTOIR"Horses in the Abattoir" is a haunting LP by the dark post-punk duo Traitrs, released by the independent label Freakwave. Across the album, the band weaves cold-wave atmospheres, driving basslines and cinematic synth layers into songs that feel both intimate and apocalyptic. The tracks are marked by melancholic melodies, echoing guitars and urgent, echo-drenched vocals that explore themes of loss, disillusionment and emotional decay. This LP is designed as a cohesive listening experience: the songs build on each other, moving from brooding, slow-burning numbers to more propulsive, club-leaning pieces without losing their dense, nocturnal mood. The production keeps a raw edge, giving the arrangements an immediate, live-like intensity that will appeal to fans of classic post-punk as well as contemporary darkwave and goth.
Traitrs are known in the international dark-alternative scene for their atmospheric songwriting and relentless touring, sharing stages with genre peers and steadily growing a devoted following. Their music is characterized by a strong sense of drama, anthemic choruses and a cinematic approach to sound design, which has earned them a reputation as one of the more distinctive acts in modern post-punk. "Horses in the Abattoir" showcases the band's evolution: it refines their earlier, more minimal aesthetic into a richer, more dynamic sound while staying true to the emotional intensity that defines their work.
Freakwave, as the label and manufacturer, focuses on carefully curated releases from the darker corners of alternative music. Their editions typically emphasize high-quality pressings, thoughtful artwork and a strong visual identity that complements the music. With "Horses in the Abattoir," Freakwave underlines its commitment to artists who blend classic post-punk and wave influences with a contemporary, forward-looking edge, offering collectors and fans a standout LP that feels crafted as much for attentive home listening as for the turntable of a dedicated DJ. | | | Edition: |
