Description:
Delock USB 10 Gbps USB Type-C? Switch 2 to 1 bidirectional 8K (11500)
The Delock USB 10 Gbps USB Type-C SWT 2 to 1 bidirectional 8K switch is a compact, high-performance USB-C switch designed for flexible signal management in modern digital workspaces. With its USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface (up to 10 Gbps) and support for high-resolution video up to 8K (depending on the connected USB-C alt-mode devices), it enables fast data transfer and demanding display applications in a single, space-saving device. The switch allows either two USB-C sources to share one USB-C display/device, or one source to be switched between two USB-C displays/devices - depending on the application scenario and the capabilities of the connected hardware.
Technically, the device is based on a USB Type-C interface that supports SuperSpeed data rates up to 10 Gbps. It is designed for bidirectional use: in one mode, two host systems (for example, a notebook and a desktop PC) can alternately operate a single USB-C monitor, docking station or other peripheral. In the other mode, a single USB-C host can be switched between two USB-C targets, such as two monitors or docking solutions (actual functionality is limited by the USB-C implementation and alt-mode support of the connected devices). A manual button on the housing allows fast, reliable switching between the two ports without the need for re-plugging, which protects the connectors and simplifies handling. The passive, compact housing is suitable for desktop use and mobile setups.
Typical applications include multi-workstation environments (e.g. home office and business laptop on one large USB-C monitor), meeting rooms with shared displays, or flexible workstations where one computer alternately uses different USB-C peripherals. Thanks to the high data rate, the switch is also suitable as part of workflows with external SSDs, USB-C docks or high-resolution displays, as long as the complete chain of devices supports the required standards. The device is powered via the USB-C connection of the active port (bus-powered), which reduces cable clutter and makes installation easier.
The advantages for users include reduced cable wear due to less frequent plugging, a tidy workplace, and a noticeably more convenient workflow when switching between systems or displays. Professionals benefit from fast, interruption-free switching, while private users can operate work and private PCs on a common infrastructure. The bidirectional concept increases flexibility: one and the same switch can be used in different scenarios without being tied to a single fixed topology.
Delock, as an established brand in the field of connectivity and IT accessories, is known for a broad, practice-oriented portfolio that focuses on compatibility with current standards and long-term availability of products. The company often emphasizes durable, functionally thought-out solutions that help extend the service life of existing hardware. By using a USB-C switch like this, customers can continue to use existing monitors and peripherals efficiently instead of replacing them prematurely, which can indirectly contribute to resource conservation and less electronic waste. This allows buyers to make a contribution to more sustainable IT use by organizing their workplace in a more efficient and hardware-conserving way, even without explicit manufacturer sustainability programs being documented for this specific product.
