 | | Description: | BWV 62 â??Nun komm, der Heiden Heilandâ? (Now come, the gentiles' Saviour): The J. S. Bach Foundation hasalready recorded another cantata of the same name, BWV 61 from Bach's Weimar period (1714). BWV 62, which appears on this CD, was composed at the beginning of Advent in Leipzig in 1724. Two similar and yet so different works! Both are quite short and yet complete, with both referring to crib and cross, conflict and victory, darkness and light. Indeed, the two works encompass an astounding range of ideas and expression.â?¢ BWV 52 â??Falsche Welt, dir trau ich nichtâ? (Treacherous world, I trust thee not): â??Sounds familiar!â? exclaim most listeners upon hearing the opening Sinfonia of cantata BWV 52. And indeed: the setting is an early version of the first movement of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, with its wonderful writing for natural horns. In this cantata for solo soprano, there is more great wind writing to enjoy, with a bassoon and three virtuoso oboes added to the score.â?¢ BWV 6 â??Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werdenâ? (Bide with us, for it will soon be evening): Has Easter ever changed the world or made it a better place? As things stand, the answer is no: the prospect of grace and eternal life remains a clouded sun in the dark sky of the real world. Cantata BWV 6, despite the work's Easter message of salvation, is a stark warning of impending doom, combined with a heartfelt plea not to be abandoned by God. In this deeply moving piece of music and contemplation, Bach creates a comforting atmosphere of humility and serenity, where wailing and gnashing of teeth would not be out of place. - "Bach Kantaten N°48" is a captivating CD release by the renowned Chor Der J. S. Bach-Stiftung, conducted by Rudolf Lutz and accompanied by the distinguished orchestra of the same foundation. This album presents an exquisite interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's sacred cantatas, offering listeners a profound spiritual and musical experience rooted in Baroque tradition. The J.S. Bach-Stiftung, based in Switzerland, is celebrated for its dedication to performing and recording all of Bach's vocal works with exceptional artistry and historical authenticity. Under Rudolf Lutz's direction, both choir and orchestra have garnered international acclaim for their expressive performances and meticulous attention to detail, making them leading interpreters of Bach's music today. | | | Playtime: |
